Case studies

The manager of a European subsidiary of an American software business became the object of a malicious email campaign. Bishop International tracked the emails to an internet café in Western Europe and by comparing expense claims with the timings and locations of the emails we were able to identify a suspect who was then put on formal notice by the company prior to their taking legal action.

A US private equity group pulled out of an investment in a Scandinavian company. The Scandinavian company sued and the case went to arbitration in Europe. The decision went against the private equity group, which faced up to $20 million in damages. Working on behalf of the private equity group, Bishop International conducted investigations across several countries and gathered evidence that other finance organisations had also pulled out of investing in the business. The result was to considerably mitigate the award for damages.

A US company had acquired a European marketing business and kept the founding CEO in place for ten years. They then agreed that the CEO would resign with a significant annual payment in exchange for a non-compete agreement. However, a few years after reaching the agreement the former executive decided to set up in competition and began soliciting contracts and employees. Through surveillance and other investigative techniques Bishop International was able to inform the US company about the efforts of the former CEO such that the company was able to sever its agreement on favourable terms.
