It is with great sadness that I announce that Jeff Katz, my good friend and Bishop Group’s Chief Executive for the past 20 years, died suddenly of a heart attack on Wednesday, 9 December. It is made all the more difficult because he was in such robust health.
Everyone who came into contact with Jeff knew that he possessed an energy, dynamism, professionalism and forensic attention to detail second to none.
The Board, executive management team and staff are determined that his legacy will continue to live on. Jeff’s illustrious career has featured many noteworthy cases, including the infamous “God’s Banker” investigation into the murder of Roberto Calvi.
A doyen of the industry, he enjoyed an international reputation in the world of corporate investigations for his pioneering and pivotal role in the establishment and development of the sector in Europe.
Born in the Bronx, New York, in 1946, he was a newspaper man at heart, with a thirst for knowledge, an eye for a story and a nose for the truth.
He hand-picked, nurtured, mentored and trained the senior management team around him, making the firm what it is today.
As soon as circumstances permit, a memorial service will be arranged for the large number of clients, family and friends who will want to come together to celebrate his life.
